Three-Year Limited-Term Ancillary Academic 
Staff Position in Distance Education Course Development

The University of Windsor, Odette School of Business invites applications for a three (3) year Ancillary Academic Staff position in the area of Distance Education Course Development  commencing as early as August 1, 2012 or soon thereafter. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The University of Windsor is a medium-sized university with a solid reputation in teaching and research. The University of Windsor offers a friendly and supportive environment for both living and learning. It is Canada’s southernmost university and its border location provides unique cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for faculty and students.

The Odette School of Business offers four-year business programs leading too an Honours Bachelors of Commerce degrees, a two-year program leading to an Honours Bachelor of Commerce for University Graduates, and a new Post-Graduate Certificate in Accounting. It also offers a full-time MBA, an integrated MBA/LLB, and a Masters of Management. There are approximately 1500 full-time and 500 part-time undergraduate students, and 200 Masters-level students enrolled in Odette School of Business programs. The successful applicant for this position will become the School’s specialist in the area of distance education course development and be responsible for supporting and advising faculty members through the design and implementation of online versions of their courses. This includes designing online versions of existing courses; consulting on the use of distance education learning platforms; mentoring faculty one-on-one through the online course redesign process; and troubleshooting online courses through implementation.

As on-site specialist for distance education course development at the Odette School of Business, the incumbent will also take on the responsibility for liaising with internal and external learning development affiliates in order to ensure the School is knowledgeable of the best industry standards and practices related to distance education.

Candidates for this AAS position must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Development and a track record in educational course development with extensive experience using Blackboard Collaborate, Elluminate, Wimba or other synchronous online collaboration systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required, as well as excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. A certificate, diploma, or degree in business would be an asset.

Successful applicants must have had demonstrable teaching success at the intermediate and/or advanced level and the ability to teaching in a business field (including: Accounting, Finance, Management, Management Science or Marketing).

  • a letter of application, including a statement of citizenship/immigration status; a detailed and current curriculum vitae;
  • statements of interests; evidence of academic and professional qualifications;
  • a teaching dossier or evidence of teaching effectiveness that will include sample course syllabi/outlines, teaching evaluations and a statement of teaching philosophy and interests;
  • samples of scholarly writing, if applicable; graduate transcripts; and
  • three current letters of reference forwarded by the referees directly to the Dean of Business.
