Online Learning Communities: Myth or Reality
Much has been written about the benefits of the online learning environment. It has been suggested that the asynchronous environment facilitates reflection and critical thinking. Distance educators talk about the development of online learning communities that provide greater opportunities for collaboration and knowledge construction than face-to-face learning environments. But does research and practice support these ideas. In this presentation Mark Bullen will talk about what research says about the development of online learning environments and relate some of his practice-based concerns.
