Well, we had convocation yesterday, and it was a great day to celebrate the accomplishments of Dean Shareski, Heather Ross and Caroline Tompson (in that order, wedged between Rick Schwier and Len Proctor), and David Thorburn (not pictured), who couldn’t make it to the festivities. All of these fine scholars received their Masters of Education degrees in Educational Communications and Technology. Congratulations one and all.

Web Design Contract:
In a second phase of a SchoolPLUS project, the Pre-Service Committee needs to contract with an individual to design a Web page to organize the information collected in the first phase of the project. The first phase of the project was to obtain course information on areas of accreditation in the pre-service training of people in human service careers (e.g., teachers, teacher associates, school psychologists, counsellors, occupational therapists, etc.). The information collected is 212 core and elective courses identified for 16 accreditation areas and these courses have been rated as to their fit with the six effective practices of SchoolPLUS. As such, the content required for the initial Web site prototype has been collected.
The individual will be working under the direction of Dr. Len Haines (Co-chair of the Pre-service Working Table) and also coordinating efforts with Randy Duncan who was the research assistant for the data collection phase. The project is intended to commence right after the next Pre-service Committee meeting scheduled for June 21st and the expectation is that a prototype of the Web page could be delivered by Sept. 1, 2006. A final budget for the second phase is not available, however Dr. Haines has suggested that potentially we could work with/pay an appropriate individual to assemble an itemized estimate as the basis for a contract. The expectation is that the individual will do all the required visual and related design work and carry out some user testing of the site prior to the Sept. 1st completion date.
Contact Randy Duncan if you’re interested in applying for the contract.
