I really enjoyed this podcast from CBS’s “Ideas” podcast site. I really like this site, but I wonder why CBC only posts the last four or five programs before moving them off the site. Can’t CBC afford the server space? At any rate, this was posted only a couple of days ago, so you have a few weeks to find it. But don’t wait forever, or it will be gone.

Roy MacGregor has spent thirty years travelling and writing about Canada. “You’d think I’d know something,” he says. “I don’t. I still don’t understand how it works.” In the 2006 Dalton Camp Lecture in Journalism, he describes some of his experiences and reflects on the “Journalism Personality”— something he says cannot be taught — and the privilege and practice of journalism.

November 2006 – To reward students who enhance the learning environment, McGraw-Hill Ryerson Limited, a leading Canadian publisher of educational resources and information products and services, announced in April 2006, their annual Student Scholarship Awards program.
The first Awards have been presented to twenty college and university students who displayed Integrity, Classroom Engagement and Initiative. Each student was nominated by their professors for their contributions to the teaching and learning environment and received a $500 award and certificate signed by the President of the Higher Education Division.
