Planning for AECT Anaheim 2007 is underway! The Call for Proposals was posted December 4 and will remain open until February 15. Stephen Downes, Canadian educator and futurist, is confirmed as a keynoter and Pat Miller is lining up additional strong keynoters. Pat and her group of program planners are hard at work planning for an outstanding convention.
The metaphor at the heart of the theme for AECT 2007 is the kaleidoscope – an ever-changing environment created by moving parts, each unique and together forming beautiful patterns. Learning Within the Kaleidoscope: A Culture of Technology will feature a variety of types and lengths of sessions. Before developing a proposal, review the information included in the Call for Proposals. You can access the call from the main page of the AECT Website ([ http://www.aect.org/ ]www.aect.org) or directly at: [ ]www.aect.org/events/call .
Each division planner has posted a description of the sort of topics needed for the division program. Review these division “calls” carefully to pick the best placement for your proposals. Some divisions will operate an “open call,” reviewing throughout the 10-week proposal process. Others will wait to review until the end of the period. Regardless of the structure of the review process, division planners will be seeking the very best collection of sessions to contribute to the “kaleidoscope” of the convention program.
Several division leaders have proposed special strands and projects to enhance the experience of those attending the convention. And the ISMF will be scheduled to overlap the AECT convention, thus offering their screenings and other sessions to AECT conventioneers as well.
Convention planning chairs Nate Lowell and Don Little, with division planners and President-Elect Pat, will pull it all together in the beautiful Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel in Anaheim – just a mile from Disneyland! Mark out October 23 to 27, 2007 on your calendars now – you won’t want to miss this one!
