Please announce the following information to your students:
The University Learning Centre’s Writing Help services are free to
all U of S students:
1) Drop-in Writing Help in Murray 142 (on the first floor of the
Main Library). All U of S students can receive free one-to-one
tutoring from 9:30-3:30 Monday to Friday, and Monday to Wednesday
evenings from 4:00-7:00 p.m.. You do not have to make an
appointment to receive help, and the service is confidential. A
draft is no longer needed. During busy times, students may consider
using the online tutoring service.
2) NEW Online Writing Help at http://www.usask.ca/ulc/writing. Free one-to-
is now available online, year-round. Students do not have to submit
an assignment to receive help, and the service is confidential.
3) “Grammar-to-Go” Writing Workshops (pre-register with your NSID at
http://www.usask.ca/ulc/writing). These free, short workshops cover a
variety of topics: thesis statements, punctuation, style,
organization, getting started, revision, and MLA documentation.
Registration fills up quickly.
4) Online links and “Writing Matters” videos featuring Peter
Stoicheff. Coming soon: short clips and podcasts of interviews with
U of S professors explaining writing in their disciplines (Biology,
Sociology, English, TESL, History, and Philosophy).
