The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living is a non-profit organization that advocates with people who have intellectual disabilities and their families. Our Mission is to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities have full, inclusive lives in their community and are valued members of society.
We are seeking applicants, to work from our Saskatoon office, for the position of SELF-ADVOCACY FACILITATOR (3/4 time position). The position involves supporting a program that has gained national recognition for its success in ensuring people with intellectual disabilities have a voice in their communities.
Supports the members of the Self-Advocacy Action Group to identify goals and develop action plans to meet those goals
Coordinate and facilitate meetings and events around Saskatchewan
Manage project budget; prepare reports
A belief in the principles of Inclusion; knowledge of the issues facing individuals with intellectual disabilities
2 – 3 years of post-secondary education in a related human service field
1- 2 years of experience in working with people with intellectual disabilities
Ability to provide leadership through mentoring
Excellent communication and creative planning skills
Well developed coordination/planning skills
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record check, hold a valid class 5 driver’s license, be able to work flexible schedules and travel throughout the province
Salary: $33,100 – $35,600/year
This is a term position to March 31, 2007 with the possibility of extension. Deadline for applications is October 12, 2007.
