The big news: Wilson joins ECMM faculty

Free venti mocha caffé latte all day in the Café Canadien today! This is the big news I’ve been itching to tell everyone for some time now.

With convocation just completed, we have another convocation (calling together) to announce. Jay Wilson has just agreed to join our faculty in Educational Communications and Technology. Jay is no stranger to many of you, as he has taught almost every course we offer in the program. I’m so very pleased because Jay is a close friend, but also because he is a fabulous teacher and scholar. He is, quite simply, one of the most talented teachers I’ve ever met, and we’re ecstatic to have him join our team.

Welcome Jay… er… sorry… Professor Wilson!

Here is a picture and a brief description, for those few among you whom have not already experienced the Jay Wilson full meal deal.

Jay’s educational background includes a B.A. (History), B.Ed. (Elementary Education) and a M.Ed. (Educational Communications and Technology) from the University of Saskatchewan. He also has a Diploma in Broadcast Communications from Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta. Jay’s doctorate is from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia.

Jay has worked in pre-service teacher education for many years. He has extensive practical experience in the area of technology and its application to teaching and instruction. He is also skilled in the areas of multimedia production, application of video in education and delivery of professional development.

His research interests centre on technology skill development in educators, developing quality e-learning experiences and studying the social impacts of technology.

  1. I was hoping this was the announcement you were holding back on. Congratulation, Jay. I don’t think there could be anyone better to fill this position. And congratulations to Rick and everyone else in the Ed Communication and Technology program for getting someone like Jay to be part of the team.

And that skype thing during Alan November’s keynote – sweet!

  2. @courosa… we do indeed. We’re looking at a rare opportunity, I think. Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I know Jay will love hearing from you, and we’re just thrilled to have him join us. Now, if we could only make a package deal with the Posse! 🙂

  3. Hello gang

Thanks for all of your kind words. I am looking forward to doing some damage with all of you in the near future.

    Jay
