SALARY INFORMATION: The salary range is $54,193 to $84,677 per annum (Specialist/Professional, Phase 2). The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

JOB TITLE: Instructional Developer / Program Coordinator

PRIMARY PURPOSE: As a team member in the Gwenna Moss Centre, this position involves participation in instructional design projects in partnership with faculty, academic departments and colleges. It involves development of teaching skills for faculty and other instructors at the University of Saskatchewan.

NATURE OF WORK: The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching Effectiveness (GMCTE) is a part of the University Learning Centre (ULC) devoted to promoting and supporting excellence in teaching for all university instructors (faculty, staff and graduate students). It also provides advice and consultative services to academic units engaged in program, curriculum and instructional design or re-design. Reporting to the Program Director of the GMCTE, this position provides both interaction with faculty and academic units on instructional design initiatives and program coordination support for GMCTE workshop programs. The individual in this position must assist with the design of and offer support for the unit’s faculty programming, and must work to build effective relationships with faculty, staff and graduate students. The work involves multiple projects with diverse groups and competing demands. The individual in this position works both independently and as part of a team with internal and external stakeholders. The work consists of a challenging blend of the educational programming and instructional design, requiring strong organization and communication skills as well as patience and flexibility.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Working with faculty in various colleges and departments to support curricular and course design.
· Organizing conferences, workshops and seminars in support of teaching and course design.
· Conducting evaluations to demonstrate success of Gwenna Moss Centre programs.
· Planning and delivering programs for faculty and graduate students in the area of improving teaching.
· Designing and developing new programs for faculty and graduate students in the area of improving teaching.
· Liaising with academic units to identify program needs in the area of faculty development.
· Tracking innovative and best practices in higher-education teaching and learning throughout the world and bringing new approaches to the University by designing pilot programs or through publication in the Centre’s newsletter.
· Assisting with the design of technological support systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Gwenna Moss Centre operations.
· Developing and maintaining productive partnerships with other individuals and units engaged in faculty development and program/curricular course design.
· Assisting with day-to-day front-line interactions when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Masters degree or equivalent with specific training in instructional design.

Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of related experience as an instructional designer is required. Project management experience is required. A deep knowledge of the theory and practice of instructional design and an understanding of teaching in higher education is required. Substantial experience with e-learning technologies and formal training in project management techniques is preferred. Teaching experience at the university level is an asset.

Skills: The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills; attention to detail; capability of working independently as well as in team environment; and the ability to apply research methodologies to evaluate programming and make recommendations for future practice. Familiarity with best practices and innovative practices in teaching and learner support is necessary. A high level of energy and empathy is essential, as well as proficiency in computer technologies related to creating and delivering presentations, basic website development and creation of promotional materials.
