JOB REQUIREMENTS
Great Plains College is looking for a contractor to work with curriculum development teams, instructional staff and subject matter experts to develop college level programming for Great Plains College and our partners.
The Instructional Designer will use current instructional designing principles to develop and deploy curriculum intended for face-to-face, distance, online and blended delivery. This will include initiatives such as researching and assessing curriculum materials, determining the current state and needs of the learners, developing new instructional media and liaising with various internal and external groups.
Great Plains College intends to design high quality, state-of-the-art curriculum in a number of selected program areas. Other design opportunities will be assessed as this project work progresses.
Timelines will be outlined for each program development initiative. Great Plains College is planning for completed projects in May and September 2014. These dates are tentative based on available resources.
Contracts will begin as soon as possible and will likely progress to the end of October 2014, with the possibility of extension.
Experience required
The Instructional Designer will have:

A sound understanding of the legislation applied to each aspect of an instructional project including copyright and privacy legislation

The ability to draft effective and valid instructions, guides and directives with an advanced level of language competency in all forms of written communication

The ability to create learning documents (course descriptions, curriculum, instructors guides, reports) clearly and completely
-
The ability to develop instructional materials that demonstrate expert knowledge of a variety of learners and learning environments

The ability to design and deploy learning materials, courses and programs that take advantage of both synchronous and asynchronous communication modes
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the following are also required:
-
Making recommendations to clients on designing and implementing learning solutions

Developing and Designing online learning activities and assessments

Using instructional development tools and systems such as Articulate, Publisher, Creative Suite, HTML, online survey tools, open source community based tools and social media

Developing content for learning content management systems (LCMS) such as Moodle, Blackboards, Angel, etc.
Education
The Instructional Designer will have a Master’s degree in instructional design, education technology, learning design, or curriculum development. Equivalent experience coupled with a relevant four-year undergraduate degree may be considered.

Contract Submissions

Two client references for curriculum design work completed

Cost breakdown for project work completed up until October 31, 2014. Including relevant business expenses for this section

Preference for working at a Great Plains College location or from a remote location
